On the day of the Aymará New Year, the
21st of June, El Fuerte will tell the region what to expect from the new
harvest. At the solstice, the first rays from Venus and the Sun tell the Guaraní
people if the next harvest will be good or bad. Thousands of people will come
together in veneration of the Sun during the ceremony known as Yasitata Guasu
Köe Mbiya.
Program:
Thursday 19th June: conference about the ceremonies at the
Samaipata Archeological Museum (CIAS) at 7 p.m.
Friday 20th June:
3.30 p.m. at the central plaza: local authorities
and villagers will officially welcome the Guaraní village leaders from the Lower
and higher Isosog.
8 p.m. at El Fuerte: artists will animate the wait
for the Light of Morning
11 p.m.: El Ayarice, a ritual to give thanks for
this years crops
From 12 p.m.
there will be a vigil until the first rays of the Sun and Venus appear. We can
only hope for a bright sky, which signals a year with a plentiful corn harvest
and the absence of plagues.
